PIONEERING TELE-MEDICINE
PROJECT
AT KORYDALLOS PRISON
4
Ápril 2000: Ôhe complete telemedicine
project connecting Korydallos Prison facilities with Nikea General
Hospital was installed and handed over to the prime contractor,
Messrs Themis Construction Co. in fully operational condition,
by Planet Four Networking SA, a wholly owned subsidiary of the
Hi-Tech Computerbank Networking Group.
Planet
Four Networking SA specialises in advanced telecommunication systems.
In this particular project, apart of the networking substructure,
Planet Four Networking SA also supplied and installed the workstations,
the servers and the necessary wireless links. The installed system
supports data/voice/video transfer and provides real-time service
to the telemedicine needs of the Prison.
In
total, three buildings of the men's complex were networked, which
were then connected through wireless link with the LAN in the
building of the women's facilities. A similar network was installed
in three buildings of Nikea Hospital. The WAN link of the prison
network to that of the Hospital is carried out through the ISDN
network of OTE (the Greek Telecommunications Organisation), while
one PRI 1Mbit line is also used.
Apart
of the above project, Computerbank Networking Group last month
completed and handed over to the prime contractors, or is about
to complete in a few days, the installation of a number of other
big networking projects, like,
- The networking
substructure of the new exhibition centre of Hellexpo, at Kifissias
Avenue, Athens (prime contractor: BIOTER),
-Structured cabling of the ERT (Hellenic Radio Television Organisation)
buildings at Agia Paraskevi and at Katehaki Avenue, Athens (prime
contractor: SINGULAR),
-The extension of the networking system of the Centres for the
Advancement of Employment of OAED, the Greek Work-Force Employment
Organisation to 27 local branches and 6 area centres around
the country (prime contractor: ACE, Advanced Concept Enterprises
SA),
-The networking substructure of the new ultra-modern building
of the Athens Courts of Appeal (prime contractors: NETWORK ADVISORS
SA),
-The enterprise IT network of the General Warehousing Depots
of Greece SA (PAEGAE) (prime contractor: SINGULAR SA)
In
1999, the Computerbank Networking Group had a total turnover of
Drs. 2.1 billion, and expects to double this in year 2000.
