Summer Progress of various
Projects
Even though
this was vacation period, and in spite of the geographical spread,
our teams finalised the enterprise network at the premises of
Karma Oktabit SA in Athens, while they progressed, and are currently
at the stage of finalising, the IT & Telecom network infrastructure
at the AHEPA and HIPPOCRATEION hospitals of Thessaloniki and at
the General Hospitals of Corinth, Ioannina and Patras.
At the same time, our Design team progressed the detailed plans
of the networking installations of five more hospitals in Athens
and those of the General Hospitals of Heraklion (Crete), Mytilene
and Tripolis, which are now at the stage of final approval. At
similar stages of approval, or just starting work, are the networking
installations in 11 more Hospitals around the country.
During the same period, we have also undertaken to expand the
already installed networks of some of the Hospitals, of the University
of Piraeus and of PAEGAE, the General Warehousing Depots of Greece.
These expansions, totalling 1700 workstations, are already under
way, using Molex Premise Networks structured cabling systems and
the necessary active networking equipment by CABLETRON Systems.
On the international front, the issue of fibre-to-the-desktop
is, as you know, a constant topic of conversation. Molex Premise
Networks recently launched the MTRJ Product Range, a Small Form
Factor ideal for fibre-to-the-desk applications. Details can be
found at http://www.molexpn.co.uk/news/press19.html.
With this opportunity, we wish to inform you that we receive,
from time to time, case studies of recent Molex Premise Networks
projects. The latest to arrive was the case of structured cabling
at Hertford College, one of the oldest Oxford University Colleges,
dating back to the 13th century - facing the challenge of installing
leading-edge voice and data cabling without any of the cabling
routes showing. Should you wish to read this case study, please
reply to this mail, writing the word "YES" at the subject line.
If you would like to receive all such case studies, when they
become available, please write "YES ALL".
Finally, Molex announced the results of financial year 2000, ending
June 30. With revenues at $2.22 billion and a growth of 29.5%
over the previous year, this was indeed a record year. Profits
after tax reached 10% while Molex invested $129 million in R&D.
