On
the international front, Enterasys Networks proved its mettle
in enterprise-class switching in a test conducted by InternetWeek
(http://www.internetweek.com/). The test included packet classification,
prioritisation, quality of service (QoS), multicast IP traffic
and routing over WAN interfaces, etc. Fault tolerance and redundancy
also played a big part in the test plan. Enterasys Networks, an
affiliate of Cabletron Systems, showed up with a complete end-to-end
solution to the test requirements. Read all about the test and
its results at http://www.internetweek.com/reviews01/rev012201.htm.
One
more interesting piece of news is mentioned again by InternetWeek,
regarding the announcement of a new APRISMA (another CABLETRON
affiliate) security module in its Spectrum network management
software suite. Spectrum Security Manager creates a map of network
topology that includes security elements such as intrusion detection
systems, firewalls and antivirus software. Spectrum Security Manager
integrates with Spectrum version 6.0 and runs on Windows NT/2000
and Solaris. The relevant article can be found at http://www.internetweek.com/story/INW20010126S0003
.
Nx
Networks (for which we are also value-added distributors in Greece)
announced that its Nx 3000 Series D secured gateway router has
been certified for all Safety and Emissions standards compliance,
including FCC Part 15, Class A EMI/EMC Certification and UL 1950
(US) Safety Compliance specification. The relevant announcement
is at http://www.nxnetworks.com/NxNetworks/NxPress/NxPrsRel100/
